The Diocese of Tucson has designated the Church of Our Lady of the Desert as a “conventual church,” a designation of Canon Law of the Catholic Church. The Church Community is not a parish. Thus, the ministries and services are not typical of a parish church. The Redemptorist Renewal Center shares sacred space with the Church of Our Lady of the Desert, and it serves as the religious chapel of the Redemptorist Community. The Church is utilized for prayer by private individual and religious and retreat groups of the Redemptorist Renewal Center.
The Redemptorist priests, under the direction of the Rector of the church, provide pastoral care for the church community. The Church community does celebrate the Sacraments of the Eucharist, Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick. Reconciliation may be celebrated by appointment. In addition, registered members of the church may celebrate the funeral liturgies of the Church at the time of their journey to everlasting life.
Please call the front office or see the church bulletin for upcoming scheduled times of prayer and worship.
